Angels GM Says No Player is Off Limits in Trade Aside From Mike Trout

The Angels are trying to be creative in making moves this offseason.

As the Los Angeles Angels look to get themselves back into the postseason next year, they are being aggressive in trying to bring talent to the team. They believe that they have some pieces other teams would be interested in landing and are doing their best to make moves happen.

Angels general manager Perry Minasian gave some insight into the aggressiveness of the team this winter. He said that all players are available within a trade, other than star outfielder Mike Trout.

“Minasian said no player was off-limits or unavailable in trade talks. That’s, of course, excluding Mike Trout. He has a no-trade clause, and the GM made it clear Tuesday that the Angels have no desire to move him.”

This is the right way to go about everything for the Angels and they have a lot of work to do to get this roster back to be competitive. Trout is the foundation of the team, but everyone else is fair game.

The Halos have a few pieces that they can use in potential deals, but they are limited in what they can offer. Every player is available at the right price, it’s just a matter if someone is willing to meet them.

“But Minasian’s answer was specifically in response to a question about the availability of shortstop Zach Neto and catcher Logan O’Hoppe, two players who are on track to be the foundation of the franchise’s future.”

The Halos likely won’t deal either Zach Neto or Logan O’Hoppe unless they are blown away with an offer. They are two core pieces to the future of this roster, and losing them could set the Angels backward.

It won’t be easy to make trades this offseason, especially with other teams likely being able to outbid them. But it will be up to the Angels’ front office to get creative in how they maneuver around everything this winter.
