Mahomes has opened up on what the award meant to him
PATRICK Mahomes has won the AFC Offensive Player of the Week award, his first of the 2023 NFL season.
The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback is having a great start to the holiday season with the honor coming after he celebrated his son Bronze’s first 𝐛𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐡day.

Los Angeles Rams running back Kyren Williams scooped the reward in the NFC after putting up a career-high 204 and scoring two touchdowns in the 37-14 win over the Arizona Cardinals.
Mahomes, 28, stepped up on Sunday, helping the Chiefs bounce back from a Week 11 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles with a 31-17 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders.
The two-time NFL MVP completed 27 of his 34 pass attempts at Allegiant Stadium, throwing for 298 yards and two touchdowns.
He logged no interceptions and finished with a passer rating of 122.8 — the best in the AFC.
Also, Mahomes got sacked only once for a seven-yard loss.
The Chiefs star won the AFC Offensive Player of the Week award for the 10th time in his career, the most in Kansas City’s history.
“[Weekly awards] still mean a ton,” the quarterback said this week.
“It’s an award of playing great football, which is hard to do in this league.
“It still means a ton and it speaks to the team, mostly.
“Most times, you win the game and guys around you make plays to get those awards. It was a good week for us offensively, and we’re going to try to keep it rolling.”
Mahomes and his Chiefs are now preparing for a Sunday Night Football clash with the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field.
On Monday, the quarterback’s wife Brittany shared pictures of a football-themed 𝐛𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐡day party for Bronze.
With the help of their daughter Sterling Skye, 2, the couple transformed their home gym into an NFL field for the big occasion.
They had a five-layered MVP 𝐛𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐡day cake prepared for their son, featuring a football field, a bronze-colored layer, and a real football.
The Mahomeses also provided plenty of attractions for their 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥ren, bringing in a ball pit, a bouncy house, a foam finger display, and a play area.
