25-year-old Chelsea defender now called up to national team hours after draw against Man City

Journalist Fabrice Hawkins has claimed that Chelsea defender Axel Disasi has now been called up to the France national team.

He took to Twitter to state that the decision had been made just hours after he played his part in a 4-4 draw with Manchester City.

Disasi was tested to his limits yesterday up against the reigning treble winners, with the battle against Erling Haaland one that any defender struggles with.

The Norway star did find the net twice yesterday, however the 25-year-old put in a real shift against him to limit him as much as he could.

The pairing of Disasi and Thiago Silva performed really well yesterday in the absence of Levi Colwill due to injury.

It looks as if the performance of many of those on the pitch at Stamford Bridge has gone down well with international managers and selectors.

Cole Palmer has been rewarded with his emphatic display both yesterday and in recent weeks with his first senior call up with England. Raheem Sterling however will not be present much to the dismay of many pundits.

Disasi called up to France

Now though, Hawkins has claimed that Disasi will also be part of the France setup over the next two weeks, following some injuries to their senior side.

He said: “Axel Disasi replaces injured Ibrahima Konaté”

Despite a number of options in the position, Disasi has been a near ever-present in the middle of defence for Mauricio Pochettino this season.

It remains to be seen if that stays the case when fellow countryman Benoit Badiashile returns to full fitness.

He scored in his return to action in the EFL Cup, however has been a substitute for the big games recently against Tottenham and City.
