Mishael Morgan of the long-running soap opera The Young and the Restless made history on Friday at the 49th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards.
The 35-year-old performer became the first Black woman to take home the trophy for Outstanding Lead Actress at the event in Pasadena, California.
For the monumental occasion she turned heads in a two-paneled black and rose-print gown with a wide train skirt.
Mishael, a Trinidadian-Canadian actress, looked back to her roots during her acceptance speech as she noted: ‘I was 𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐧 on a tiny island in the Caribbean, and I’m now standing on an international stage and I am being honored regardless of the color of my skin, regardless of my passport, for being the best at what I do.’
The beauty’s gown had a black belt that drew attention to her trim waistline and also boasted short, ruffled cap sleeves.
She turned heads in the eye-popping ensemble, which stretched over her feet and featured peplum-like accoutrements at her hips.
Morgan has been part of the beloved daytime series for nearly ten years, joining the cast as Amanda Sinclair in 2013.
She gave a shoutout to viewers during her impassioned thank you monologue as she noted, ‘I need to thank the fans and everybody sitting at home.
‘They embraced me when I came on this show and I am so immensely proud of our generation. We are breaking glass ceilings left, right and center and I am so honored to be a vessel and to experience this moment.
‘Everybody out there today, we can do this thing called equality and unity together,’ she finished.
Mishael – who shares two 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥ren with husband Navid Ali, who’s also an actor – looked gorgeous in a face of glamorous makeup.
Her eyebrows were expertly-arched to frame her big, brown eyes and she also drew attention to them with fluffy lashes.
She highlighted her high-wattage smile with a brick red matte lipstick, which complemented her pout as she cheesed throughout the evening.
The award winner flaunted a glossy black manicure as she proudly held onto her glinting gold statue for photos.
