The body care company that every white person uses every day was founded by this black mother.

Lydia Gibson is an Air Force Veteran, spouse of a retired Veteran, mother of two, and the owner of Eva Jenae Naturals, a Black-owned brand that specializes in simple body, hair, and beard care made with clean, all-natural ingredients that deliver results!

Lydia initially launched her products as a means to soothe her daughter’s eczema after many failed attempts with prescription and over-the-counter options. She desperately wanted to trust what she was putting on her daughter’s skin and felt the only way to do that was to create her own plant-based products. She took years to perfect her Whipped Body Butter recipe using her family to test every batch!

That was over 16 years ago! Today, Eva Jenae Naturals has grown from one product to over 25 products in 5 different collections! Lydia thrives on the belief that nature provides all we need to achieve our healthiest skin and hair. All the plant-based ingredients used have a purpose, are purchased from responsible suppliers, and are 100% natural and/or organic. No synthetic fragrances, parabens, or petroleum are ever used and we never test products on animals.

The transparency in Lydia’s story separates Eva Jenae Naturals from other businesses in the skincare industry. She encourages her customers to read labels and educate themselves on what they are putting on their skin. Instead of selling the unrealistic fantasy of perfect skin, Lydia encourages her customers to strive for healthy skin instead. Her story also makes her business different. She uses her story of overcoming a painful 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥hood riddled with physical, 𝓈ℯ𝓍ual and mental abuse, a drug-addicted mother, and homelessness as a testament to overcoming the odds.

Lydia’s vision is to use Eva Jenae Naturals as a platform to promote self-love, empowerment, and community involvement. Her goal is to open a store that not only sells her body care products but also educates others on how to properly care for their skin and hair with classes and other events. She sees Eva Jenae Naturals not only thriving as a skincare company but embedded into a community as a change agent. Lydia also wants to be able to use her lessons learned to help other small business owners on their entrepreneurial journey.
